In the United States and Canada, some of the first gender affirming clinicians to publicly share concerns about potential harm to minors were Dr. Erica Anderson and Laura Edwards-Leeper. After the New York Times passed on an initial submission, the two prominent clinicians published the op-ed, “The mental health establishment is failing trans kids,” in the Washington Post in November 2021.
