Jamie Reed, USA

"I left the clinic because I could no longer participate in what was happening there. What we were doing was the opposite of 'do no harm.' Instead, we were permanently harming the vulnerable patients in our care."

Jamie Reed is a whistleblower from a pediatric gender center in the United States. She holds a BA in Cultural Anthropology and a Master of Science in Clinical Research Management. She worked at the Washington University Transgender Center at the St. Louis Children’s Hospital from 2018 to 2022 where she held the position of case manager and clinical research coordinator.

Jamie Reed officially blew the whistle regarding the practices at the gender center in January 2023 by submitting an affidavit to the Missouri Attorney General (AG). Once the affidavit was formally accepted by the AG she published a first hand account with the publication The Free Press. The publication went viral and broke the narrative regarding ‘care’ being offered within pediatric gender centers in the United States.

Reed’s affidavit was read into the record for the State of Missouri Legislative push to regulate pediatric gender message and in 2023 a bill was signed into law regulating puberty blockers, cross sex hormones, and surgery for minors. The law included a ‘grandfather clause’ which allowed those already on blockers or hormones to continue. The law also included extending the time frame for medical malpractice lawsuits. The change for medical lawsuits led to the closure of the Pediatric Gender Center in St Louis.

The New York Times completed an investigation of the Washington University pediatric gender center and published an in-depth story.

Jamie’s story has also been covered by numerous podcasts including: Gender A Wider Lens, Transparency, and Triggernometry.

Jamie continues to share her story and has participated in numerous conferences. In November 2023 she spoke at the Genspect: The Bigger Picture Conference, and shared her experiences as a lifelong Democrat in this speech.

Jamie advocates for ending the use of puberty blockers, cross sex hormones, and surgery in pediatric populations and for safeguarding and mental health care for adults seeking to medically transition.

Jamie seeks to support other whistleblowers from the gender industry.
